Where did their names come from?

Killer was easy, he was 5 lbs of joy when he came into our lives, so it was naturally very ironic because he was so small and sweet. Riley was more difficult.. he was very sick at the beginning so he was being hospitalized frequently for his skin conditions, malnourishment, etc so we didn’t name him right away. Before we landed on Riley, he held such names as, Lil’ Monster, Bentley and Frank the Tank.

 

Would you ever adopt a 3rd dog?

We did not plan on a first or a second dog so its very feasible that if another pet came along that needed a home, and melted our hearts.. we would consider it.

 

Do Killer and Riley ALWAYS get along or do they have tiffs or fight?

Killer is definitely the alpha in the pack. He will sometimes take one of Riley’s toys for himself; Riley’s response? Lay down and stare at him or grab another toy. I will usually catch this and give Riley his toy back and give Killer another toy. They never fight, although sometimes Riley will want to play and Killer won’t so he’ll huff and puff until Riley finally gives up.

 

Was it love at first sight for each of them?

We had Killer first so he was very comfortable with us and his surroundings so when Riley came, he was curious at first but we mostly kept them separate because of Riley’s contagious skin conditions and weak body. When Riley was better they were pretty friendly at first, and have been inseparable ever since.

 

Does Riley ever bark or make noises? 

He is very quiet. He’s a docile and low energy snuggler so he is only compelled to bark when Killer hears what he thinks is an intruder and barks like crazy. Riley will follow with 2-3 barks, then back to silence. And long stares.

 

What kind of dog is Killer?

We cannot be certain for sure, but we think he is a miniature pinscher/chihuahua mix.

 

What do you do to keep their teeth so white and clean?

Weird double sided doggie toothbrush and chicken flavored toothpaste. If given the chance, they would drink the entire tube immediately. I brush their teeth twice a month.
